Tributes have been paid to a mother who sacrificed herself by pushing her daughter out of the way of a lorry.
Rachael
Martin, 29, from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, saved her
five-year-old daughter after she rolled into the path of the reversing
lorry on her scooter.
But the heroic mother was killed when she was dragged under the wheels of the vehicle on Western Road.
Ms Martin had been walking her two daughters to school at 8.45am last Friday.
Her
five-year-old daughter was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by
air ambulance and remains in a stable condition after suffering serious
pelvic injuries.
A seven-year-old girl was not injured.
Witnesses said the mother dashed into the road to save her daughter.
Heartbroken friends and family paid tribute to Ms Martin on Facebook.
Family member Shane Martin wrote: “Rest In Peace Rachael Martin, you will be sorely missed.
Friend Carla Dare shared a photo of a flower which Rachel had given her
just weeks ago, with the caption: “Today I’ve been in complete utter
shock by the tragic accident and sudden loss of a truly wonderful close
friend of mine.
