The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has disbanded the splinter group, ''the Fresh PDP'', and absorbed it into the main party, led by Uche Secondus.
The decision to disband the group was reached at a reconciliation meeting held in the Abuja home of the former national chairman of the PDP, Okwuesilieze Nwodo between members of the fresh PDP and some officials of the national working committee of the party.
Convener of the meeting and former national chairman of PDP, Okwuesilieze Nwodo made it clear that the various organs of the party, including the board of trustees were not unaware of the gathering.
Nwodo is concerned that if the fresh PDP declares a parallel NWC, it will justify the many defections of its members to the ruling party.
At the end of the meeting, a decision was reached by both members of the splinter group and the leadership of the party to disband the fresh PDP and form a formidable force ahead of the 2019 elections.
The fresh PDP was formed by a group of aggrieved candidates of the December nine, 2017 elective national convention of the party, to drive home their grievances.
The splinter group had vowed to set up a parallel national working committee of the party by January 22, 2018.
A decision that has now been quashed with the latest development.
