An ally of President Muhammadu Buhari and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Brig.-Gen. Jafaru Isa (rtd) has returned N170 million to the Federal Government.
Isa, a former military governor of Kaduna State was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in January for allegedly receiving N170 million from the former National Security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd)
The former governor was released by the EFCC after returning N100 million and promised to pay up the balance of N70 million.
Punch reports that a reliable source confirmed that Jafaru Isa has returned the N70 million balance to the Federal Government.
“I can confirm to you that Jafaru Isa has returned the balance of N70m to the Federal Government’s purse. This brings the total amount of money he has returned to N170m,” the source said.
Isa was arrested, detained, and released five days later after he admitted that he received N170 million from Dasuki. He made a deposit of N100 million and signed an undertaking to pay the rest.
However, the EFCC is yet to prosecute the former governor who is believed to have health issues.
